Fed rate cut expectations weigh on the dollar: gold at record highs

A new peak for the ultimate safe-haven asset, which benefits from the dollar’s weakness ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting. A rate cut is expected, possibly by 25 basis points. Spot gold traded for the first time at $3,683.51 per ounce, after hitting $3,689 overnight. Gold for December delivery rose +0.08% to $3,721.80.
