For all precious metals, the spot price is expressed in US dollars per ounce and in euros per gram. The fixing shows the daily quotation of gold, platinum, and palladium, which is set twice a day; for silver, both the current day’s fixing and the previous day’s fixing are reported. For all four precious metals, the fixing is expressed in the main international currencies: US dollar, euro, and pound sterling.

Unlike gold, platinum, and palladium — for which two daily fixings are established — the LBMA sets the silver price once a day, at 12:00 p.m. London time (1:00 p.m. Italian time).
As with other precious metals, the fixing makes it possible to agree upon and establish a daily price, which is used internationally as the benchmark for silver trading in a constantly moving market.
